I'm a Pittsburgh-based freelance writer specializing in travel and parenting. Contrary to popular belief, my BA and MA degrees in English have been incredibly useful. Beyond writing, I've had incarnations as an English teacher, yoga instructor, entrepreneur, and homeroom mom. I was honored to receive a regional Jefferson Award for Public Service for my work as the founder of KnitHope, a grassroots craftivism project. I helped under-reported stories shine as a marketing consultant for the nonprofit Storyburgh.
The same insatiable curiosity that drives my world travel informs my writing. Whether sharing stories of glacier hiking or breastfeeding, I aim to reveal the heart of the journey. My writing has appeared in numerous publications including The Christian Science Monitor, World Nomads, Belt Magazine, Livability.com, The Sunlight Press, and Storyburgh.
I've been incredibly fortunate to have done some pretty cool things. Sometimes those experiences make it into traditional publications, and sometimes they just don't fit. I'd like to share those unique experiences—and a few travel tips and tricks—with you here.
